TRAINING TIME EACH DAY: 0800 - 1700
Patrol Officers conduct far more structural clearances than any other position or team within law enforcement and by a HUGE margin. While they conduct far more of these searches, they must do so with little training on the topic and usually in very small elements. PSCI focuses on preparing instructors to train their Officers to safely and efficiently clear an interior space. The curriculum is specifically tailored to the patrol mission set, equipment, and staffing levels. This is not a SWAT class and the techniques presented are not simply attempts to transition Patrol to SWAT or some form of "SWAT light." The course will cover will focus on deliberate/methodical clearance techniques but also introduce rescue techniques and movements. Instructor candidates will learn how to plan, prepare, administer, monitor and refine a clearance training program for their agency. Participants in the class will be required to perform the skills presented to an above average level of proficiency and pass several evaluations during the week.
Additional topics that will be covered and trained during this class include; different types of breaching and their application to patrol, weapons handling. retention, arrest and control techniques. Training will be conducted using a variety of lectures, guided practice and NLTA drills and scenarios. There is NO live-fire in this class.
